Mitchell’s a grinner!

By Allan Povah

The Plain Dealer limerick competition has been judged, and the winner is Mitchell Murchison (above), of Parramatta Park. We tracked young Mitchell down as he prepared to take the soccer field for the Mother of Good Counsel Eagles.

When told of his win, Mitchell said that he was “stoked”. “I didn’t think it was that good,” he said. “Mum helped me a bit.” Mitchell said he wasn’t sure when he’d be able to take up the first prize of a trip to Mexico for two, but that he was looking forward to the chimichangas.

The competition, sponsored by Mission Foods, Flight Centre and the Far North Queensland Avocado Collective challenged entrants to construct a limerick containing the words “avocado”and “Mexico”. Second prize, a weekend for two at the Tolga Caravan Park, was won by Vince Jacobsen of Manoora.

Mitchell’s winning entry:

I really like Avocados
Especially in Mexico
I like chimichangas
I don't like rangas
Cos they're always picking their nose.
