Val Shier to play chihuahua in Mexican blockbuster

By Murray Murchison

At  a press conference this morning at the Brickhouse, it was announced that PM Val Shier, was on her way to Mexico for pre-production in the upcoming Mexican cinema blockbuster ‘Soy lindo pero mi mierda es apestoso.’ Shier’s likeness is to be used in modelling the diminutive hero Prudenciana el Chihuahua (above).

The highly anticipated film, based on a much-loved children’s book, has been ten years in development and has a budget of 1.2 billion pesos.

Executive producer, Guillermo Del Toro, is delighted to have secured Shier’s services for the part. “We’re very excited,” he said from his offices in Los Angeles. “We’ve got Ana Claudia Talancón to voice the role. She’s super-talented but a little too catlike and cube-headed for any visuals. Val is a perfect fit. Small-headed, skittish and meta-puppylike. She’s also well known in Mexico in certain circles.”

Shier will spend the next six weeks at Ciudad del cine de México, principally on motion capture. For the initial stages she will share a kennel and undergo an intense induction with technical director, Pequeño (below), who is also providing barking effects. Toileting arrangements are not yet decided.

The film, which follows Prudenciana on a madcap romp through orphanages, brothels, cock-fighting rings, drug-dens and keno palaces, is expected to be released some time in 2019.

In the PMs absence, Peter Beattie will act as Prime Minister, while Greg Dowling will take on the Treasury role.
