Peach opens route to Kiohsiung

Peach Air have launched a new service from Mareeba to Kiohsiung, a picturesque tourist hot-spot on the southern tip of Taiwan. Onwards connections take travellers to Fukuoka, Narita and Sapporo.

Led by Captain Kyo Guk, the crew of flight 347 (above) were seen striding through Mareeba International Airport on their way to the Rattle ‘n Hum Taphouse for pre-flight briefing and drinks.

Peach already operates services to Kansai and Seoul from Mareeba. In another announcement from the airline today, the Atherton to Busan service will be operating three times a week from November and, pending runway and aerobridge upgrades, will make use of refurbished Lockheed Constellation aircraft.

North Queensland manager of Peach, Mr Donald Kwak, is upbeat about the future for the airline. “We very happy,” he said from his offices in Aeroglen. “Load factors good. Bubble tea very good. Livery very good. Mr Takash very very happy. Time for pizza.”

Competitor, ZIPAIR, are understood to to reviewing its route structure to service more locations on the Tablelands, even as far west as Mt Surprise. Travellers can expect some deep discounting and great bargains for holidays and business in Taiwan, Korea and beyond. This will be welcomed by the region’s burgeoning Korean community.
